Here’s a special scoop for Whittle’s centenary year – how about a stay in a Yorkshire castle hotel that does not normally accommodate tour groups?! Cave Castle is located in exquisite grounds in the peaceful village of South Cave at the gateway to the gentle Yorkshire Wolds. Normally they just take individual bookings and golf parties, as there is a golf course in the grounds. However, Rob ran the South Cave 10k race recently (he didn’t quite finish last!), setting off from Cave Castle, couldn’t resist popping inside for a coffee and came away with a date for the Whittles Centenary. Go Whittle!

A most unusual find for Whittles centenary year, Cave Castle Hotel is a 3 star hotel within a beautiful castle building. The site has a long history, though the current castle was built in 1875. Rooms are in the castle itself or adjoining building. There is lift access to most rooms. As well as its own golf course, the hotel has a renowned restaurant, bar, indoor swimming pool, sauna and steam room.

Itinerary

Excursion 1

City of York & Boat Cruise on the Ouse. York is one of those special cities. It is compact, offering lots of museums, independent shops aplenty, the lovely instituation that is Betty's and an almost complete city wall. That's not all through, as the Minster is a sight to behold, one of this country's greatest ecclesiastical landmarks. You can also lose yourself in York's "snickleways" th alleys in the old town, not least the beautiful cobbled "Shambles". We also include a river cruise on the Ouse to give you a different perspective from the water.

Excursion 2

Beverley. Close to our hotel is the historic market town of Beverley, the country town of Yorkshire's East riding and home to another spectacular Minster. It is well worth our half day visit.

Excursion 3

The Yorkshire Coast. To add contrast to our stay we decided to venture to the Yorkshire coast for some traditional, old fashsioned seaside fun. There are miles of sandy beach, a charming little road train leading from "Brid" to Sewerby Park along the coast and the mighty Flamborough Head dominating from the North, now very much a haven for nature.
